ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Allison Domgard and I'm an entry level UX Designer and Researcher. I have earned my certification in UX Design through Coursera Google Certificate Program. I am self taught in the world of Figma, and am excited to learn more and grow my skills.
BACKGROUND
I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2013 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. During my time at UNL, I was a scholarship athlete and part of the Nebraska volleyball team. My experience as a Nebraska volleyball player taught me the value of communication, discipline, strong work ethic, and the ability to juggle many things at once!
After college I began my career in education, teaching 6th grade students and coaching high school volleyball. This experience was rewarding, but after a year I decided to go back to school to take my passion for helping others and combine it with my love for kinesiology. I have been a Physical Therapist Assistant for the last 8 years, treating an array of patient populations of varying levels of injury, dysfunction and limitation.
CROSS OVER INTO UX DESIGN
My time as a Physical Therapist Assistant has shaped the way I view and interact with others. We all come from different walks of life, with different experiences that shape who we are. Working with individuals in pain, who feel frustrated, or down, has taught me the importance of empathy, compassion, and being an active listener. I am excited to utilize these skills in the world of UX design, to make for a better user experience.
